We have a library with an extensive collection of textbooks and journals in the BLS. The library is in our office and can be used by all members, free of charge.
We have a brand new online system which is currently being updated. https://bangorlinguisticssociety.librarika.com/
If you have any questions about the library, please contact our Library Manager, Fiona Howe.
Opening Hours
The library is opened during our normal office opening hours (Mon-Fri, 10-4pm, except holidays and reading weeks). Items can be taken out and returned any time the office is opened, just ask the person staffing the office for assistance.
Where to find us
We are located at the bottom of the Bilingualism Centre following the move from Main Arts. There are signs and arrows to help you find your way. We are located in the two rooms on the basement level of the building just past the kitchen.
How many items? Are there fines?
You can currently take out up to 5 books for a period of two weeks at a time (so other people have a chance to get hold of it, though if that is not the case you can of course extend the loan). Also we believe that linguists are nice people and therefore do not currently operate a fines scheme, if your item is due and somebody needs it just be understanding and return it as soon as you can. Should anybody be constantly abusing this system, we also reserve the right to suspend their library privileges to “reference only” status (so they cannot take books out), but this will hopefully never have to be done.
